Earlier this month, police in Easton, Pennsylvania arrested a 54-year-old prostitute named Janet Smith when she offered to "perform" on an undercover cop for $20. Instead of arresting her, they asked her to help them bust a major drug dealer. They gave her $60 and told her to set up a buy with the dealer . . . who's only been identified as "Jay." Janet set up the buy, and the cops watched her buy the $60 worth of heroin from Jay. But then, instead of heading to the designated meeting point, Janet went to a hotel. The cops found her room and knocked. A man opened the door . . . and they found that Janet had DOUBLE-CROSSED THEM. She'd decided to INJECT the EVIDENCE.
She's been charged with theft by deception and tampering with evidence. There's no word on whether they busted Jay. The cops have admitted they don't, quote, "routinely" enlist prostitutes to help with drug stings for this exact reason.
